MOTHERS’ UNION – Held in TBF Thompson Ministries Building, this event was attended by 67 members from various branches of Derry & Raphoe Mother’s Union, including our Diocesan President Jacqui Armstrong

The day was led by our main speaker and Chaplin, Revd Katie McAteer, based on our theme for 2020 – Building Hope & Confidence.

This entailed a fun but challenging task to build a tower from some very delicate materials, namely marshmallow and spaghetti, to test if we could deploy the gifts God has given us to make wise or foolish choices to build on a solid foundation both as individuals, in our church and in our community.

The next group challenge was to devise a plan in the form of an event to interest others to, ‘join Mothers’ Union ‘. We were invited to be encouraging through our use of language, show compassion to create growth and to extend our support in building hope and confidence throughout our congregation and local communities.

Following a delicious lunch, we praised God and celebrated Holy Communion together. We brought the day to a close expressing thanks to Rev Katie McAteer for the interesting and engaging ways in which she encouraged us to build hope and confidence within ourselves and in our communities. Our thanks to Elsie Stewart and Joan Stockitt for organising a very enjoyable day of Christian refreshment.
